New Low Tariff International Calls Launched in Tanzania

Airtel, one of the four mobile operators in Tanzania is set to offer highly competitive international call rates.

The new rates will now mean that countries such as India can now be reached for 3,000 shillings (USD 1.8) per minute.

Sunil Colaso, Managing Director of Airtel Tanzania, praised the new communication services and its ability to connect Tanzanians with the rest of the world affordably.

The telecommunications sector in Tanzania has shown rapid growth over recent years, with mobile in particular showing substantial growth as mobile penetration is about 28 million SIM cards.
