Tabora Set to be West Tanzania Next Investment Spot

The Tanzania Investment Centre (TIC) and the Millennium City Initiatives (MCI), a program of the Earth Institute of Columbia University in New York, recently organized an investment forum to promote awareness of investment opportunities in and around the Tabora region.

Tabora municipality is a regional hub in western Tanzania with a potential regional market of around 15 million consumers alone. 

Specific investment opportunities exists in agribusiness and agriprocessing (in particular: processing honey, edible oil and dairy) manufacturing, real estate, tourism (in particular: hospitality and related services), as well as bio-fuels, mining, timber processing, cotton processing and other light manufacturing.

Local and surrounding infrastructures are rapidly improving. The construction of a new airport with daily flights to Dar es Salaam and Kigoma and new road infrastructure facilitate the reach to markets in western Tanzania as well as adjacent parts of D.R. Congo, Zambia, Burundi, and Rwanda.

Speaking at the event Tabora Regional, Commissioner Hon. Fatma Mwase said that more than 30 investors have already showed interest.

In addition, Vice President of Tanzania, Dr. Mohammed Gharib Bilal said the region rapid road and railway infrastructures developments make Tabora a good investment destination.

The event was also attended by Hon. Samwel Sitta, Tanzania Minister for East Africa Cooperation, and chairman of the organizing committee, Hon. Dr. Abdallah Kigoda, Tanzania Minister for Industry and Trade, Hon. Dr. Mary Nagu Minister of State, (Investment and Empowerment), and Juliet Kairuki, Executive Director of the Tanzania Investment Centre.
