The forum was attended by Prime Minister Hon. Mizengo Pinda, the Minister for Investment and Empowerment Hon. Mary Nagu, Manyara Regional Commissioner Hon. Elaston Mbwilo and the Tanzania Investment Centre (TIC) Executive Director, Juliet Kairuki.

During an exclusive interview with TanzaniaInvest.com Hon. Mbwilo explained that: “Manyara region has a lot of opportunities to investors. For instance land, available for agriculture, abundance of livestock, minerals, like tanzanite which is not found anywhere else in the world, as well as many attractive tourism areas.”

Hon. Mbwilo further explained the challenges which prevented Manyara region adequate visibility untill now, citing that it was formally, “one single region with Arusha. Road infrastructure was also a challenge. It is only recently that our roads from Arusha and Dar es Salaam have been improved. We are now well connected by road, but we still do not have a major regional airport. The closest airport remains Arusha and Kilimajaro, but we have airstrips. We now invite local and foreign investors to come and invest here.”

He finally underlined that, “we have just started one Special Economic Zone (SEC) in Mererani to enable a tax free export hub mostly for Tanzanite. We are inviting investors to develop this SEC.”
