The Swedish Ambassador to Tanzania had applauded the government for its work towards promoting the private sector via partnership programs.
Ambassador Lennarth Hjelmaker acknowledged Tanzania’s advances in private sector development this past weekend at a 40-year anniversary gala for the Swedish truck manufacturer, Scania.
Scania is a major player in Tanzania’s transport industry, which plays an integral role in other sectors of society, such as agriculture, mining, tourism, and manufacturing.
Mr. Hjelmaker commented that a sustainable and effective private sector requires the government’s continued efforts of creating a supportive environment that promotes private business activities; and that entrepreneurs and small to medium size business owners must maintain their presence in this.
In recent years, Tanzania and Sweden have addressed several issues together, including tax administration, work permits, infrastructure, and increasing operations at the Dar es Salaam port.
