Tanzania Ground Handling Company Sees Increase in Profits

Swissport, Tanzania’s largest ground handling firm, saw its pretax profits increase by 17% in the first semester of 2013.

The company, listed at Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange (DSE), indicated that during the same period total revenues increased by 22%, to TZS 17.198 billion.

Increase in flight frequencies and uses of bigger capacity airplanes were mentioned for such interim results.

According to Swissport Tanzania’s Chairman Juan Jose Andres Alvez continued growth of frequencies is expected to the end of the year.

In light of that the company’s board is optimistic that the performance for the second half of the year will remain satisfactory.
