The Tanzania National Parks Authority (TANAPA) has recently announced that the new Turkish Ambassador to Dar es Salaam, Hon. Yasemine Eralp, has paid a courtesy call to explore the involvement of Turkish investors in the country’s national parks.
During her visiting, she pointed out that tourism sector stakeholders play a key role on the development of the Tanzania’s travel and tourism industry and this is why is among her top priorities to ensure that the sector grows and attracts more visitor from Turkey.
According to former Turkish Ambassador to Dar es Salaam, Dr. Sander Gurbuz, during his term which ended in 2011 the number of Turkish visitors to Tanzania reached the 100,000.
The number was expected to double to 200,000 by 2015 after the former ambassador helped to establish direct flights from Istanbul to Dar es Salaam on June 14th, 2010.
TANAPA’s Director General, Mr. Allan Kijazi, guaranteed Ambassador Eralp that his entity will bring the maximum support to ensure that the travel and tourism sector grows at a good pace.
According to Director Kijazi, Turkey is among the fastest growing economies and its role in the world trade makes it a need to capture its potential.
According to the Ministry of Natural Resources of Tanzania in 2014 the country witnessed 7,357 Turkish visitors arrivals compared to 1,851 in 2010 (+297%).
