Netherlands Firm to Advise on New Dar Transport System

Dutch company Rebel Group has signed a USD 1.3 million agreement to advise the operations of the Dar es Salaam Rapid Transport System (DART).

DART is supported by one of the largest public-private-partnerships (PPP) projects so far in Tanzania with the private sector set to invest USD 180 million and the public sector committing USD 250 million.

The company was selected ahead of 17 other interested parties to advise the DART project, which will see the construction of new trunk roads, bus stations, walkways and depots in an attempt to ease congestion in the capital.

Once completed, DART is expected to provide billions of shillings in savings from costs currently incurred by traffic jams in Dar es Salaam and positively affect at least 300,000 commuters.
