The Tanzania Private Sector Federation (TPSF) has confirmed Angelina Ngalula as President for a new three-year term and Deogratius Massawe, Acting CEO since October 2025, as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) following its 24th Annual General Meeting (AGM), held on 16 October 2026.
Two Governing Council members, Jitu Vrajlal Soni and Ali Suleiman Amour, were newly named Vice Presidents, representing Tanzania Mainland and Zanzibar, respectively, to support Ngalula in the federation’s top leadership.
Under the current TPSF arrangement, the President serves a three-year term, with the possibility of re-election for one further three-year term.
According to the federation, the fixed tenure is designed to give the leadership enough time to carry out strategic plans, assess results, and strengthen accountability and institutional continuity.
Splitting the Vice President roles between the Mainland and Zanzibar ensures that the views, needs, and opportunities of businesses on both sides of the Union are reflected in its leadership and strategic decisions.
The Federation added that the structure is intended to strengthen cohesion within the Tanzanian private sector, coordinate a common business agenda, and deepen dialogue with the Government on policy and the enabling environment for business and investment.
It also noted that the arrangement creates room to connect economic opportunities across the Mainland and Zanzibar, including tourism, the blue economy, international trade, industry, and investment.
TPSF was incorporated on 4 November 1998 as the umbrella body for private sector associations and corporate members, as well as Tanzania’s focal point for the East African Business Council (EABC).
Ngalula, the owner of Bravo Group and Agricom, was elected TPSF Vice Chairperson in August 2018, took over as acting chairperson in 2020 following the death of Chairperson Salum Shamte, and was elected Chairperson by members and the board in December 2020.
Under the TPSF constitution in force in 2018, the chairperson served a two-year term, compared with the three-year term that now applies to the President.
Ngalula also chaired the EABC from June 2022 until December 2024, when she was succeeded by John Lual Akol Akol of South Sudan and remained on its governing council as Vice Chairperson for Tanzania.
Amour is the National Chairman of the Zanzibar National Chamber of Commerce (ZNCC), which represents businesses on the islands at events such as the Zanzibar International Trade Fair.
Massawe, previously TPSF Director of Finance and Operations and a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), was named Acting CEO on 3 October 2025.
