NSSF, RAHCO And TBC New Directors General Appointed

Tanzania’s President Dr. John Magufuli has recently appointed new Directors General to three key public institutions – National Social Security Fund (NSSF), Reli Assets Holding Company (RAHCO), Tanzania Broadcasting Corporation (TBC) – in accordance with local laws and the fifth phase government’s goals.

According to a statement from the Directorate of Presidential Communications, Prof. Godius Kahyarara has been appointed Director General (DG) of the National Social Security Fund (NSSF), Dr. Mussa Iddi Mgwatu has been appointed DG of the Reli Assets Holding Company (RAHCO) and Dr. Ayub Rioba Chacha has been appointed DG the Tanzania Broadcasting Corporation (TBC).

Prof. Kahyara replaces Dr. Ramadhan Dau who has been appointed ambassador.

Prof. Kahyarara had been teaching economics at the University of Dar es Salaam for almost 10 years and has a rich experience in government and policy related jobs since he participated in the design of Tanzania private sector development strategy in 2007.

Prof. Kahyarara also participated in the transformation of Tanzania’s Civil Aviation into an executive agency in 1998 and more recently conducted the country’s Forest Sector outlook for the establishment of the National Forest Policy in 2008.

Dr. Mussa Iddi Mgwatu replaces Mr. Benhadard Tito after RAHCO’s board of directors was dissolved on December, 2015, due to procurement irregularities related to a TZS 1 billion loss from the Central Railway Corridor upgrade.

Dr. Ayub Rioba Chacha replaces Mr. Clement Mshana who has retired.

Rioba comes from exerting the Chairman position at the Media Institute of Southern Africa (MISA) – Tanzania Chapter.

Dr. Rioba has a proved rich experience in mass communications, media and journalism fields since 1993 when he started his Bachelor degree on Mass Communications at Makerere University in Uganda and further studies of Master and PhD in Wales and Finland, where he conducted a research about Tanzania’s current media situation.

The NSSF is Tanzania’s retirement funds of all employees that are not within any of the government pension schemes.

RAHCO is Tanzania’s rail infrastructure holding company, established to develop, maintain and manage railways and provide rail transport services throughout the country.

The TBC is Tanzania’s public service broadcaster established in 2007 that started operations in the same year.

Tanzania Inflation Holds at 3.2% in March 2026 as Food Prices Ease

Tanzania's annual headline inflation remained stable at 3.2% in March 2026, unchanged from February, as food and non-alcoholic beverages inflation eased to 5.5% from 5.7% the previous month. The monthly NCPI rose from 122.01 to 123.04, driven by price increases in fresh cassava, Irish potatoes, diesel, and charcoal, while core inflation edged up slightly to 2.2%, according to the National Bureau of Statistics.
