Tanzania National Roads Agency to Spend TZS 56 Billion to Ease Congestion in Dar es Salaam

The Tanzania National Roads Agency (TANROADS) had signed a TZS 56 billion worth contract with two local Tanzanian constructions companies to build 27 km of feedeer roads to tarmac level in order to ease traffic and de-congest Dar es Salaam.

Dar es Salaam roads are getting incredibly dense during the rush hour, as city residents prefer Tanroads tarmac roads to municipal roads, which are currently in a bad condition.

Twenty seven kilometers amount to 13 roads in total, six of them would be built by two local companies: Estim Construction Co and Hari Singh & Sons.

To ease the traffic the following roads are going to be constructed: Tangi Bovu-Goba (9 km.), Goba-Mbezi (7 km.), Kifuri-Kinyerezi (4 km.), Kilungule External (3 km.), Kimara Baruti-Msewe (2.6 km.), and Tabata Dampo-Kigogo (1.6 km.).

Tanroads Chief Executive Officer Eng. Patrick Mfugale announced that construction would start immediately after the rainy season, and would end within sixteen months, meanwhile the companies have an opportunity to mobilize resources.
