According to the Tanzania Chamber of Commerce Industry and Agriculture (TCCIA), the governments of Tanzania and Jordan are preparing to sign a free trade agreement that will facilitate the transfer of goods and services between countries and strengthen bilateral relations.
According to Jordan’s Minister of Industry and Trade, Hatem Halawani, the country is eager to develop economic ties with Africa as a part of its economic openness policy and multiple commercial partnerships that have encouraged trade liberalization through bilateral and multilateral free trade agreements.
Hon. Halawani went on to indicate that the country is currently holding conversations with Tanzania, Kenya, and Ethiopia with the intention of signing free trade agreements.
In an interview with The Guardian Tanzania, Francis Lukwaro, Chairman of the Dar es Salaam Regional Chamber of the TCCIA, explained that the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the TCCIA and the Zarka Chamber of Industry of the Kingdom of Jordan (ZIC) will improve current business relations and provide opportunities to explore new potentials.
“It is a good opportunity for the Tanzanian business community to explore the untapped potentials in Jordan and establish relationship with its Jordanian counterparts who already have a steady economy,” he said.
