AfDB Will Continue Funding Tanzanian Projects

AfDB support to Tanzania 2019

The Africa Development Bank (AfDB) Director General for East Africa Regional Development, Gabriel Negatu, recently reiterated that the bank will continue supporting Tanzania’s development projects.

He made the comments while meeting with the Tanzanian Minister for Finance and Planning Minister, Dr, Philip Mpango in Dodoma on 9th August 2019, stressing that Tanzania has shown positive results in using the bank’s fund.

Tanzania is the second-largest beneficiary of the concessionary funding window of the bank, the African Development Fund (ADF).

Tanzania Investment Guide 2026 Free Edition

In 2016, the AfDB approved the 2016–2020 concessional resource assistance package for Tanzania worth over USD1.1bn for infrastructure development and better governance.

The latest approved funding aimed at road construction projects, and the construction of an international airport in the Tanzanian capital Dodoma.

Tanzania and Russia Agree to Open Industry, Energy, and Infrastructure to Joint Investment

Tanzania and Russia have agreed to deepen investment cooperation in industry, energy, transport infrastructure, and air transport, with value-addition processing, production technology, and goods transportation named as priority areas at the Third Joint Intergovernmental Commission held in Arusha on 15–16 May 2026, which drew 120 Russian companies. The deals also cover Russian investment in mining, agriculture, and ICT, direct Air Tanzania (ATCL) flights to Russia, and a signed agreement to promote the Swahili language in Russia.
