Tanzania Investment Centre and Airtel Form Partnership to Boost Investments

TIC and Airtel Signing partnership to boost investments

The Tanzania Investment Center (TIC) and Airtel Tanzania recently signed a two-year partnership to boost local and international investments in Dar es Salaam Tanzania.

This announcement was made by TIC and Airtel Tanzania through the entities’ social media channels.

Commenting on the partnership, TIC Executive Director Gilead Teri said that Airtel’s involvement will boost TIC’s ability to utilize ICT services more efficiently, improving the way it addresses inquiries and concerns from potential investors interested in Tanzania.

Teri further noted that Airtel Tanzania, 49% government-owned, reflects the government’s strong commitment to supporting economic growth and investments in the country.

On his part, Airtel Tanzania Managing Director, Dinesh Balsingh highlighted that this collaboration follows the activation of the 2Africa Subsea Cable, which is expected to transform Tanzania into a digital hub and enhance global engagement between TIC and potential investors.

He added that Airtel’s robust connectivity will help TIC attract more investors and increase the number of projects registered with the investment center. Additionally, through Airtel Money, local investors will be able to conveniently pay for TIC-related registration and documentation fees.

During Q2 2024, TIC registered 198 investment projects with a total value of US$ 1,619.45 million, expected to generate 96,278 new job opportunities.
