The Banks, Finance & Investment Index advanced 8.27%, the Industrial & Allied Index lagged at 0.65%; NICO gained 23.62% and AFRIPRISE declined -2.86%.

Turnover and Volume

Equity turnover reached TZS 18.56 bn, down -31.58% from the previous week’s TZS 27.13 bn. Share volume fell -14.51% to 15.13 m from 17.70 m.

CRDB dominated trading with 12.96 m shares, followed by KCB (0.90 m) and TBL (0.65 m), together accounting for 96% of total volume.

Total market capitalisation rose to TZS 20,883.96 bn at the close of Week 28, 2025, a 3.99% increase from TZS 20,082.90 bn the week before. Domestic market capitalisation grew 4.17% to TZS 13,575.63 bn from TZS 13,032.72 bn.

Bond Market

Bond turnover totalled TZS 58.40 bn, down -81.21% from Week 27’s TZS 310.77 bn.

Government securities supplied about TZS 58.29 bn across 54 deals, led by a 10-year 11.44% tranche worth TZS 25.00 bn (9 Jul), a 20-year 15.49% issue of TZS 5.06 bn (11 Jul) and a 25-year 15.95% placement of TZS 1.36 bn (10 Jul).

Corporate bonds contributed roughly TZS 0.11 bn from seven small trades in 3- and 5-year notes.

Indexes

All five DSE benchmarks advanced during the shortened four-session week. The Banks, Finance & Investment Index led with an 8.27% gain, while the Industrial & Allied Index was the smallest riser at 0.65%. The All-Share Index added 4.16%, the Tanzania Share Index climbed 4.17%, and the Commercial Services Index increased 0.95%.

Stock Performances

Insurance group NICO topped the gainers, jumping 23.62% to TZS 1,230, followed by CRDB (+14.29% to TZS 1,000) and TPCC (+12.96% to TZS 6,100). AFRIPRISE led the decliners, slipping -2.86% to TZS 340, while MCB fell -2.17% and brewer TBL eased -1.98%.
