The Tanzania Goverment and Japan have signed a contract for various projects worth 802 million TZS that will further enhance Tanzania’s path to development.
The contract was signed by Mr Masaki Okada, the Ambassador of Japan to Tanzania in Dar es Salaam.
Mr Okada said that the projects will include the construction of a girls hostel at Maghojoa Secondary School in Singida District and expansion of Moyo Safi wa Maria Health Centre in Kinondoni Municipality.
Other projects include equipping a water treatment machine in Mabilioni Villange in Kilimanjaro Region and construction of a Girls Dormitory at Luhota Secondary School in Iringa District.
Mr Okada said that the building of the girls hostels is to improve the performance of female students and enhance their completion rate.
“Many students are walking long distances from their homes to school, some have to walk more than 10 kilometres a day” he noted In his speech.
Tanzania is one of the largest recipients of Japanese assistance in Sub-Sahara and is part of Japan’s Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGHSP).
Economically, Japanese companies are increasingly interested in Tanzania as a growing market in East Africa endowed with abundant natural resources.
It is expected that the future of development and economic relations between Tanzania and Japan will reach a new stage of cooperation.
