The upcoming Blue Food Forum, scheduled for September 12-13, 2024, in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, is poised to be a significant event focusing on the sustainable development of aquatic food value chains.

Organized under the FISH4ACP initiative, the forum aims to highlight best practices and lessons learned in aquatic food systems that contribute to global food security and environmental sustainability.

FISH4ACP is a global initiative driven by the Organization of African, Caribbean and Pacific States (OACPS) to support sustainable fisheries and aquaculture development.

The program is implemented by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations with funding from the European Union (EU) and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).

Key Objectives

The forum will bring together stakeholders from various sectors, including food producers, civil society, academia, and the private sector, to discuss and explore:

  • The role of aquatic food value chains in transforming food systems and contributing to the UN’s 2030 Agenda and the European Union’s Green Deal.
  • Identification of successful practices and opportunities for expanding aquatic food value chains.
  • Investment opportunities to enhance the development of sustainable fisheries and aquaculture.

Tanzania’s 2026/27 Agriculture Budget Targets 32% Cash Crop Surge and 235,000 Tonnes of Avocado Output

Tanzania's Ministry of Agriculture has set a target to raise traditional cash crop production to 2,118,000 tonnes in 2026/27, up 32.4% from 1,599,945.66 tonnes in 2025/26, while the avocado sector is projected to reach 235,000 tonnes with exports of 40,000 tonnes.
