Tanzania Telecom Company To Invest USD 30 Million In Northern Zone Regions

Tigo Tanzania has committed to increasing its investment in the country’s Northern Zone Regions by injecting USD 30 million over the course of the year to help further connect residents within and across the five regions.

Speaking at a recent press conference to announce the investment, the Interim General Manager of Tigo, Cecile Tiano, explained that the investment will offer new social and economic opportunities to customers in the region.

“This year we plan to set up over 748 sites countrywide out of which 300 will be in the northern zone,” she said, “This means giving more people new social and economic opportunities, integrating them to the global economy through internet access and in the process, enabling them to embrace a digital lifestyle.”

Over the past two years, Tigo Tanzania has invested an average of USD 2 million per week on improving infrastructure across the country and expanding its network through the construction of new sites and upgrading its network to 3G.

The company has recently announced at additional investment of USD 1 million in Zanzibar to increase 3G mobile data access in the archipelago.
