Zanzibar Doubles Its Data and Voice Capacity

The Tanzania Telecommunications Company Limited (TTCL) deployed this week a new microwave link connecting Zanzibar Islands with Tanzania’s commercial capital Dar es Salaam.

The new link will double the data and voice capacity currently enjoyed by the archipelago of Zanzibar.

The news link project valued at US$1,6 million was signed in 2012 between TTCL and the Japan’s NEC Africa and has been directly supported by Japan.

The project is part of Tanzania’s government vision to reach sustainable development via the use of IT and communication tools.
