New Low Cost Airlines Starts in Tanzania

A new low-cost airline SAX-Tanzania has been established by Fly SAX, Kenyan safari and private charter carrier.


Fly SAX had already announced the appointment of Brown Francis, a well experienced veteran of airline industry, as the General Manager. 

The carrier is going to offer its services to the areas of Mwanza, Kilimanjaro, Zanzibar and Mwtara.

The first flight is expected to occur in the second half of 2014.

In his statement, Don Smith, CEO and Founder of Fly-SAX and Fly540 Kenya, said: “We are launching a new airline to meet the ever-increasing demand for low-cost, efficient and safe air travel within Tanzania from the country’s own citizens as well as international tourists visiting the country.”

He continued by praising his colleague – Brown Francis: “I am delighted to be working again with Brown Francis. Having previously headed up Fly540’s and Fastjet’s operations in Tanzania, he brings a wealth of experience and local knowledge to SAX-Tanzania. I look forward to him making it a great success.”

The newly appointed general manager of SAX-Tanzania, Brown Francis, has over 25 years of experience in the industry and had previously worked as a director for industry affairs of Fastjet Tanzania. Fastjet was the first low cost company in Tanzania, that now serves also South Africa and Zambia.
