According to The National Bureau of Statistics of Tanzania (NBS) the Annual Headline Inflation Rate for the month of March 2016 decreased to 5.4% from 5.6% in February, 2016.
The National Consumer Price Index (NCPI) which measures the change over time in the cost of a fixed basket of 278 goods and services purchased by a representative sample of households in Tanzania on monthly basis, increased to 101.93 in March 2016 from 96.69 in March 2015.
Food and Non Alcoholic Beverages Inflation Rate for the Month of March 2016 has slightly decreased to 8.3% from 9.5% recorded in February 2016.
Annual Inflation Rate for food consumed at home and away from home has slightly decreased to 8.0% in March, 2016 from 9.1% recorded in February 2016.
In addition, the 12 month index change for non food products has increased to 3.0% in March 2016 from 1.9% recorded in February 2016
The Annual Inflation Rate which excludes food and energy for the month of March 2016 has increased to 2.8% from 2.5% recorded in February 2016.
The purchasing power of 100 Tanzanian Shillings has reached TZS 98 and 11 cents in March 2016 from December 2015.
