Precision Air Launched New Dar es Salaam-Pemba Route

Precision Air (DSE: PAL) launched its first flight from Dar es Salaam to Pemba Island via Unguja on 24th May 2016.

The airline will operate 3 flights per week to Pemba, every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday, departing from Julius Nyerere International Airport (JNIA), with one-way ticket prices of USD59 (excluding taxes).

Christine Cyprian, Precision Air Director of Ground Handling, explained that the air carrier decided to start flying to Pemba because of the island’s tourism potential.

The launch of this new Pemba route will stimulate more business and leisure traffic to Tanzania, Cyprian added.

Until now, the Dar es Salaam-Pemba route has been operated by Coastal Aviation, Hahn Air, Auric Air, and ZanAir.

These air carriers are using Cessna aircrafts for their flights to Pemba, while Precision Air will be using its ATR72-500 aircraft.

Precision Air is a Tanzanian airline, which operates scheduled passenger services to Nairobi and airports in Tanzania.

The air carrier started operations in 1993 as a private airline and became a public company in April 2011.
