Based on the findings of the recently published, ‘Good Country Index,’ Tanzania peace and security rank third in the world behind Egypt and Jordan.
Professor Simon Anholt, recipient of the 2009 Nobel Colloquia Prize for Economics and honorary Professor in Political Science at the University of East Anglia in Britain, conducted the global survey of 125 countries with the intention of measuring the contribution of each country to the overall good of humanity.
“Using a wide range of data from the UN and other international organizations, we’ve given each country a balance sheet to show at a glance whether it’s a net creditor to mankind, a burden on the planet or something in between,” said Mr. Anholt in a recent report by Daily News Tanzania.
The Good Country Index was created to demonstrate the contributions of the 125 assessed nations that in seven distinct categories including science and technology; culture; international peace and security; world order; planet and climate; prosperity and equality; and health and well-being.
Information for the assessment was compiled over the course of three years from data sets produced by 35 separate organizations including the UN, WHO and UNESCO.
