Precision Air, Tanzania’s leading air carrier has donated TZS 9 Million to support a breast cancer awareness screening campaign in Mtwara and Lindi regions.
The campaign is spearheaded by the Aga Khan Health Service Tanzania (AKHST) and is aimed at reaching women living in areas without sufficient access to such health services.
Precision Air Commercial Director Patrick Ndekana said the donation is part of the airline’s Corporate Social Responsibility Program. “Precision Air will only continue growing in terms of increasing the number of its fleers an open more routes to serve more customer in these regions [of Mtwara nd Lindi].
During a recent meeting with TanzaniaInvest.com Mr Ndekana announced that Precision Air will double it daily flights to Mtwara.
Established in 1993, Precision Air Services Limited is the largest airline in Tanzania, which operates scheduled passenger air services between Dar es Salaam and fourteen other airports in Tanzania, to Kenya and Uganda within the East African region, and internationally to Comoros and South Africa.
In October 2011, Precision Air floated 30.35% shareholding in the airline stock in an IPO on the Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange (DSE).
The company has recently taken delivery of the first ATR 42-600 to go into scheduled commercial service.
At the official ceremony which took place at the ATR Delivery Center in Toulouse, France, Alfonse Kioko, Group Managing Director and CEO of Precision Air, commented: “The ATR 42-600 is making Tanzania the first and only African country to own this sophisticated very modern navigation model that will optimize time for approach, reduce fuel consumption and promises more comfort for our passengers due to its seats design. By expanding our fleet our customers will enjoy more efficiency and better travel experience from us. We are now giving our customers a greater choice and better service.”
The new plane will be official launched in Tanzania at Dar es Salaam Airport Terminal on December 5th 2012.
