FastJet Tanzania launch Card Payment

FastJet Tanzania launched its card payment for flight purchases using Visa and MasterCard debit and credit cards, which is set to increase demand by 15% primarily from overseas travellers to Tanzania and Africa.

“We have been inundated with requests from outside Africa for people looking to purchase seats on the FastJet website and we are now in the position to be able to facilitate these bookings” Mr Bodin said.

“This coupled with our hugely popular Mobile Money payment facility really means that our customer base has the full suite of payment processes available to them” Bodin added.

Tanzania Investment Guide 2026 Free Edition

The East African airline is aware that credit and debit card usage is not high in the region but launched the solution nonetheless ahead of demand on this market.

Richard Bodin FastJet Chief Commercial Officer said FastJet partnered with Wirecard AG to facilitate international transactions globally where card payments prevail.

Travel Agents and Consumers from around the globe will now have the ability to access and pay for FastJet seats with greater convenience and efficiency.

FastJet expects that 15% of future travel bookings will be via debit and credit cards while Mobile Money payments account for 25% of ticket sales.

Jorg Moller Wirecard Executive Vice-President for Travel and Transportation said “Our solutions help airlines to operate their business more efficiently and at low risk”.

Tanzanian Delegation Visits Agribusiness, AI, Data Centre and Railway Facilities on Day Two of EU–Tanzania Roadshow in Italy

On 2 October, Tanzanian agribusiness and digital delegations visited facilities in Emilia-Romagna during the EU–Tanzania roadshow’s Italian leg. On the second day of the EU–Tanzania roadshow in Italy, the agribusiness delegation visited Apofruit–Almaverde, Martini Group and Unitec to examine post-harvest handling and cold storage, livestock and food operations, and fruit sorting, grading and training. A separate group led by Deputy Minister Pius Chaya visited the University of Bologna, DAMA Tecnopolo and Bologna San Donato to learn about artificial intelligence, Industry 4.0, supercomputing, data centres and railway testing.
