The trading week ending Friday, 29th August 2025, at the Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange (DSE), recorded equity turnover of TZS 17.77 billion (+89.45% week-on-week), bond turnover of TZS 63.98 billion (-75.15%), and a +0.50% rise in total market capitalisation.

Equity Turnover and Volume

Equity turnover reached TZS 17.77 billion, up +89.45% from the previous week’s TZS 9.38 billion. Share volume increased to 12.49 million from 7.83 million, a +59.52% change.

CRDB led the trading activity with 8.43 million shares traded, followed by KCB with 1.50 million shares, and DCN with 1.18 million. Together, these two counters accounted for 89% of the week’s total equity volume.

Bond Market

Bond turnover totalled TZS 63.98 billion, down -75.15% week-on-week from TZS 257.51 billion recorded in Week 34. Government securities provided the vast majority of activity, with trading across various maturities; corporate bond contribution remained minimal.

Indexes

Four of the five DSE benchmarks advanced. The Commercial Services Index (CS) led with +1.35%, followed by the Banks, Finance & Investment Index (BI) at +0.97%, the Tanzania Share Index (TSI) at +0.66%, and the All-Share Index (DSEI) at +0.50%, while the Industrial & Allied Index (IA) declined -0.05%.

Total capital market investment rose 35.1% to TZS 63,096.4 billion, social security assets grew 21.4% to TZS 25,921 billion, insurance assets rose 6.8% to TZS 2,633.6 billion, and foreign reserves stood at USD 6,312 million covering 5.2 months of imports.
