Italian Investment Opens New Luxury Ecolodge At Saadani National Park

The Tanzanian government strategy to welcome additional investments in tourism outside the traditional northern circuits is bringing results. One of the latest investments is Safari Mashariki, an eco-safari-lodge north of Dar es Salaam, bordering the Saadani National Park and facing the Indian Ocean.

Saadani is Tanzania’s only national parking facing the sea. As such it boost simultaneously beach tourism and wild animal safaris.

Mr Alberto Trovero, Managing Director of Safari Mashariki explained to TanzaniaInvest.com the reasons for investing in Tanzania and outside the traditional northern safari circuit or the world famous Zanzibar archipelago: “We were specially looking to offer our clientele an exclusive spot out of the beaten track, that would cater for both beach tourists as well and safari aficionados. According to our research Saaadani was the only spot in East Africa to boost such unique setup.”

In relation to the investment and business climate he encountered he added: “Liaising and dealing with the Tanzania Investment Centre was pretty straightforward. Of course we encountered unexpected issues there and there during the acquisition of land and business licensing but all in all the investment process has been relatively easy.”

The investment worth USD half million consists of five luxury cottages facing the Indian Ocean and a dhow shaped gourmet restaurant.

Safari Mashariki is located less than 20km from Saadani Nation Park and 4 hours drive or 30 minutes by plane from Dar es Salaam: http://www.safarimashariki.com
