Tanzania Tourism Revenues Up +14.6% in Year End May 2018

Tanzania tourism revenues may 2018

The Bank of Tanzania (BOT) Monthly Economic Review of June 2018 indicates that earnings from export of goods and services rose to USD 240.0 million in the year ending May 2018 from USD 171.4 million in the year to May 2017.

Services Receipts
Services earning increased by 10.3% from the amount realized in the year to May 2017 to USD 162.4 million, driven by receipts from tourism related activities.

Travel receipts, which accounted for 60.4% of services receipts, grew by 14.6% to USD 2,414.4 million owing to increase in number of tourist arrivals following enhanced promotional activities by the government and private sector.

Moreover, receipts from transport services—which hold 30.4% of services receipts—was USD 1,214.7 million, higher than USD 1,119.3 million in the year to May 2017 following an increase in transit goods to-and-from neighbouring countries.

Tanzania and Türkiye Sign Double Taxation Agreement to Unlock USD 1 Billion Bilateral Investment Target

Tanzania and Türkiye have signed two Double Taxation Agreements (DTAs) at a ceremony in Dar es Salaam, marking the 13th such treaty for Tanzania and closing a long-standing gap in the bilateral economic framework that already included a 2011 Bilateral Investment Treaty.
