Tanzania National Parks (Tanapa) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Sino-Africa Joint Research Centre and the Chinese Academy of Sciences to work together for the mutual benefit of conservation sector in the country and particularly in the National Parks.
The Director General of Tanapa Mr. Allan Kijazi said at the signing event held recently in Arusha that the MOU would boost and enhance higher education training through research, training, innovation, technological development and capacity building in areas of mutual interest.
Mr. Kijazi also mentioned that the parties would benefit from each other in the areas of biodiversity conservation, effective utilization of bio-resource, water pollution control, and strategies for solving conflicts with communities, tourism and environmental protection.
So far three employees of Tanapa have got sponsorship for a course and have been offered a Masters Degree Scholarships in China.
Tanapa, was created in 1959 to oversee the growing roster of national parks in Tanzania.
It includes 16 national parks as of now which is all together 6 % of the Tanzania’s area.
