Innovation Week Tanzania (IWTz) 2026, the platform’s 12th edition, runs from 31st August to 4th September at JNICC in Dar es Salaam under the theme “From Aspirations to Transformation.” Hosted by UNDP Tanzania’s FUNGUO Programme with the EU, UK, Vodacom and COSTECH, it brings investors, innovators and policymakers together around Tanzania’s Vision 2050 target of a USD 1 trillion economy.

Innovation Week Tanzania (IWTz) 2026 runs from 31st August to 4th September at the Julius Nyerere International Convention Centre (JNICC) in Dar es Salaam.

The event marks the platform’s 12th edition under the theme “From Aspirations to Transformation: Innovating Tanzania’s Path to Inclusive Prosperity.”

It is jointly hosted by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Tanzania through its FUNGUO Innovation Programme, funded by the European Union and the UK Government’s Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO), together with Vodacom Tanzania and the Tanzania Commission for Science and Technology (COSTECH).

Additional 2026 partners include the President’s Office for Planning and Investment (POPI), the CRDB Bank Foundation, UNICEF Tanzania, the UN Capital Development Fund (UNCDF), and the Finnish and UK embassies in Tanzania.

IWTz2026 is aimed at innovators, entrepreneurs, policymakers, researchers, corporates, investors and youth, with the programme organized across five thematic tracks alongside live exhibitions and networking sessions.

Confirmed keynote speakers include the Minister of State in the President’s Office for Planning and Investment, Prof. Kitila Mkumbo; the National Planning Commission’s Deputy Executive Secretary for Trade and Innovation, Dr. Blandina Kilama; and UNDP Tanzania’s Resident Representative, Shigeki Komatsubara.

Since its launch in 2015, Innovation Week Tanzania has grown into the country’s flagship innovation platform, used by government to track progress on science, technology and innovation policy while showcasing Tanzanian-led solutions to investors and development partners.

The 2026 edition is framed around Tanzania’s Dira 2050 (Vision 2050) agenda, which targets a competitive USD 1 trillion industrial economy built on five strategic accelerators: integrated logistics, energy, science and technology, research and development, and digital transformation.
