Tanzania Private Sector Foundation Seeks to Ease Construction Permit Process

A New Initiative from the Tanzania Private Sector Foundation (TPSF) seeks to simplify the process of obtaining construction permits.

As part of the Tanzania Government’s Roadmap to improve the investment climate in Tanzania, a new Working Group has been established that will focus on easing the construction permit process for local and foreign investors.

Godfrey Simbeye, TPSF Executive Director, emphasized the importance of construction permits to wider economic growth and expressed the importance of involving both public and private sector members in discussions.

Construction Permits have consistently been cited as an obstacle to doing business in Tanzania by organisations such as the World Bank.

The World Bank has reported that Tanzania was ranked 179th in its effectiveness of dealing with construction permits out of a comparison of 183 countries across the globe.
