Tanzania Weekly Market Report: 10 to 14 June 2013

 According to the Weekly Market Report of the trading week ended on 14 June 2013 issued by CORE Securities, a leading Tanzanian licensed stockbroker, the Dar Es Salaam Stock Exchange (DSE) total turnover increased by 102% to 990.57 million (USD 605,325.62) from 489.48 million (USD 298,994.00)

Both local and foreign investors participated in the market.

Foreign Investors participated by 24.42% while Local Investors by 75.58%

The Market Commentary shows the DSEI (ASI) and TSI were flat edging UP by +0.64% and +2.46% to 1,563.48 and 1,759.65 respectively, compared by 1,553.49 and 1,717.42 of last week.

Most of the activities were seen on NMB, CRDB and TBL counters.

Government Securities

T-Bills action recorded during the week, the auction on these securities were done on 5th June 2013. Auction summary : auction No.878 of 5th June 2013.

Government Bonds

A five and two year T-bond worth 4.00 billion recorded in secondary market, no T-bond of 7.5 and 2 years recorded in secondary market.

Unit Trust of Tanzania

Both Net Asset Value schemes (NAV) and fund size were flat edging up in comparison to last week activities.

Gold

Spot gold was up by 2.53% to 2.265 Million (USD 1,384.91) per ounce (1 ounce = 31.10 grams) on Friday 31st May.

Forex

Moving on to the Exchange Rate section, in comparison to previous week average, the Tanzanian shilling lost ground against the USD, GBP and EUR and gained against KES and ZAR currencies.

Inflation

The annual headline inflation for the month of April decreased to 9.4% from 10.4% as from February 2013, However inflation will decrease to a single digit in three month to come (IMF report)

Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange Week 23 of 2026: Equity Turnover Surges +51.19% to TZS 20.71 Billion as MUCOBA (+38.20%) and TOL (+22.65%) Lead Gainers

During Week 23 of 2026 (June 1-5), DSE equity turnover surged +51.19% to TZS 20.71 billion on volume of 6,557,479 shares across 19,464 deals. MUCOBA (+38.20%), TOL (+22.65%) and MCB (+12.50%) led gainers, while NMG (-3.77%), TBL (-3.36%) and EABL (-3.01%) topped losers. Total market capitalisation closed at TZS 34,178.81 billion with the DSEI essentially flat at -0.04%, and Commercial Services (+3.06%) was the standout index. Foreign investors were net sellers at USD -1,690,466. Bond turnover totaled TZS 87.84 billion, down -6.30% week-on-week.
