Tanzania's President Hassan and the United States Acting Ambassador agreed to conclude negotiations for LNG, Tembo Nickel, and Mahenge Graphite projects to enhance investment and economic cooperation.
A new nickel and copper processing plant in the Bahi District, Dodoma, has reached 85% completion and is scheduled to begin production in February 2026. The TZS 37B investment will process 300 tonnes of ore per day and provide a stable market for small-scale miners under Tanzania’s mineral value-addition strategy.
According to Bank of Tanzania data released on 13 October, Tanzania’s GDP grew 5.4% in Q1 2025 at 2015 constant prices, driven by electricity with 19% growth, mining 16.6%, and financial services 15.4%. Agriculture expanded 3.0%, while other sectors such as education and transport grew moderately.
The Mahenge Graphite Project in Tanzania has officially launched, marking the start of early works by Black Rock Mining. The project will generate over 400 jobs during the first phase and is expected to support regional industrial development through new power infrastructure and international partnerships.
