INDABA Conference on Mining, Energy, and Infrastructure Debuted Today in Tanzania

Tanzania’s 2nd Mining, Energy/Power and Infrastructure INDABA (TMEPII) Conference began yesterday, 2 October, at the Julius Nyerere International Conference Center in Dar es Salaam.
 
Endorsed by the Tanzania Chamber of Minerals and Energy (TCME), the three-day event features experts from the extraction and infrastructure sectors leading sessions regarding current happenings in their fields.
 
Yesterday began with opening remarks from Joseph Kahama, Chairman of TCME, followed by an overview of investment opportunities and the role of Tanzania Investment Center (TIC) led by, Juliet Kairuki, CEO of TIC.
 
For the remainder of the day there were four sessions that covered 19 topics which included: Current mining projects in Tanzania; Government commitment to promoting and incentivizing mining investment; Unconventional gas exploration; Power supply to mines; and Recent developments in Tanzania’s mining tax regime.
 
Attending the conference are government and private stakeholders, as well as media representatives.
