Etihad Airways Launches Daily Service To Tanzania

Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has announced the launch of daily service between Abu Dhabi and Dar es Salaam, making the Tanzania capital its 11th destination in African and the Indian Ocean and its 110th overall global destination.

The flights, which are scheduled to begin on 1 December 2015, are expected to enhance the flow business and leisure travelers and increase the volume of cargo between the two countries.

“Dar es Salaam is an important new route on Etihad Airways’ global network,” said James Hogan, President and CEO of Etihad Airways in a released statement, “The launch of this new route also enhances access and the two-way flow of trade and tourism between the continent and key destinations across our global network, supports inbound tourism, encourages investment, and provides much needed local employment.”

To date, trade between the UAE and Tanzania has reached approximately USD 761 million, representing an increase of more than 350% between 2007 and 2012.
