Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange New System Goes Live

The Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange (DSE) have successfully gone live this week with Securities and Trading Technology’s integrated trading, clearing and settlement technology.

From the signing of contracts to the go-live date, South African technology provide Securities and Trading Technology (STT) pulled off this trading platform within only 8 weeks.

Michelle Janke, MD of STT said: “I am extremely proud on this momentous occasion. Today the Tanzanian Exchange becomes STT’s third Exchange to go-live with STT’s integrated Exchange Solution. Furthermore, the DSE is STT’s first African Exchange to go-live with our Equities platform as well as our Central Securities Depository (CSD) system.”

Moremi Marwa, CEO of DSE added: “This is another milestone to our National Exchange – we have not only achieved to excuted this in the shortest period possible but we also have managed to procure a system that seemlessly intergrate our automated trading platform with the central securities depository and the National Payment System through SWIFT interface – this means we have now achieved a true Delivery versus Payment (DVP) and hence risk management assurance to our investors.”

“Furthermore the system is more efficient, it is more scallable and flexible, which is line we our strategic intent of introducing new products and increasing accessability to our system through the use mobile, internet and sms trading facilities”, Moremi added.

Foreign investors were net sellers, registering a net outflow of USD -5,540,226. Bond market turnover reached TZS 50.76 billion, contracting -42.21% week-on-week.

Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange Week 23 of 2026: Equity Turnover Surges +51.19% to TZS 20.71 Billion as MUCOBA (+38.20%) and TOL (+22.65%) Lead Gainers

During Week 23 of 2026 (June 1-5), DSE equity turnover surged +51.19% to TZS 20.71 billion on volume of 6,557,479 shares across 19,464 deals. MUCOBA (+38.20%), TOL (+22.65%) and MCB (+12.50%) led gainers, while NMG (-3.77%), TBL (-3.36%) and EABL (-3.01%) topped losers. Total market capitalisation closed at TZS 34,178.81 billion with the DSEI essentially flat at -0.04%, and Commercial Services (+3.06%) was the standout index. Foreign investors were net sellers at USD -1,690,466. Bond turnover totaled TZS 87.84 billion, down -6.30% week-on-week.
