The Government of Tanzania (GoT) is seeking consultants to assist its Government Negotiation Team (GNT) to undertake negotiations with oil & gas companies for the construction of the much awaited liquefied natural gas (LNG) plant.
According to the request for expression of interest published by the Tanzania Petroleum Development Corporation (TPDC), the country has received financing from the African Development Bank (AfDB) toward the cost of the Institutional Support Project for Domestic Resource Mobilization and Natural Resource Governance (ISP-DRMNRG).
GoT intends to apply part of the agreed amount for this loan to payments under the contract for Consultancy Service for LNG Transaction Advisor for the GNT.
Tanzania Natural Gas
Tanzania has proven natural gas reserves of 57 trillion cubic feet, with at least 49.5 trillion cubic feet of those reserves far offshore in the Indian Ocean.
Thorugh ist state oil company TPDC, and in partnership with the BG Group (a division of Royal Dutch Shell), Statoil, Exxon Mobil, and Ophir Energy, the country plans to build an onshore LNG export terminal in Lindi, a coastal on the Indian Ocean in southeastern Tanzania, close to large offshore natural gas discoveries.
