Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange Report – Week 47, 2024: Increased Turnover but Decline in Indexes, NMG Leads Losses

The Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange (DSE) recorded increased turnover of TZS 2,198.14 million from 1,975,819 shares traded during Week 47 of 2024. However, market indexes declined, with the All Share Index (DSEI) falling by -0.65%. CRDB led trading activity, while NMG posted the largest loss of the week at -12.28%.

Turnover and Volume

For the week ending Friday, 22nd November 2024, the DSE recorded a total turnover of TZS 2,198.14 million from 1,975,819 shares traded in 2,885 deals.

This represents a +56.08% increase in turnover and a +68.76% increase in volume compared to Week 46, which recorded a turnover of TZS 1,408.31 million from 1,170,765 shares traded.

      The domestic market capitalization fell to TZS 12,209.40 billion, from TZS 12,288.64 billion in Week 46. This represents a -0.64% decrease in domestic market capitalization.

      Bond Market

      The bond market recorded a total turnover of TZS 16.08 billion in 122 deals, with activity dominated by 20-year and 25-year government bonds.

      This marks a -88.34% decrease in bond market turnover compared to Week 46, which saw TZS 137.90 billion traded.

      Indexes

        During Week 47, all indexes on the DSE experienced declines except for the Commercial Services Index (CS), which remained flat.
