The trading week ending Friday, 28th March 2025, at the Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange (DSE) saw a significant surge in market activity, with turnover rising by 339.1% to TZS 37,321.20 million from 8,448,959 shares traded. NMB led the gainers with a 2.56% increase in its stock price, while JHL was the biggest loser, declining by -4.42%.

During Week 13 of 2025, the Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange (DSE) recorded a total turnover of TZS 37,321.20 million from 8,448,959 shares traded across 4,887 deals. This represents a 339.18% increase in turnover compared to TZS 8,497.88 million recorded in Week 12, while trading volume increased by 67.55% from 5,042,605 shares traded the previous week.

Market Capitalization

At the end of Week 13, 2025, the total market capitalization at the Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange (DSE) stood at TZS 19,207.40 billion, reflecting a -0.07% decrease from TZS 19,220.68 billion recorded in Week 12. Meanwhile, domestic market capitalization increased to TZS 12,943.90 billion, marking a 0.81% rise from TZS 12,839.41 billion in the previous week.

Bond Market

The bond market recorded a total turnover of TZS 40.41 billion across 80 deals during Week 13 of 2025, reflecting a -68% decrease compared to TZS 126.29 billion in Week 12. Trading activity was dominated by 20-year and 25-year bonds, which accounted for the majority of the turnover.

The total turnover for corporate bonds reached TZS 2,070.00 million, representing a 220.63% increase compared to TZS 645.60 million in Week 12, with activity recorded on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday.

Indexes

Week 13 of 2025 saw an overall positive performance across indices at the Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange (DSE), with most indexes recording gains. The Banks, Finance & Investment Index (BI) recorded the highest increase, rising by 1.96%, followed by the Tanzania Share Index (TSI), which rose by 0.81%. The Industrial & Allied Index (IA) grew slightly by 0.06%, while the Commercial Services Index (CS) remained unchanged. The All Share Index (DSEI) recorded a slight decline of -0.07%.
