Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange Starts 2013 with Record Turnover

According to the latest market report issued by the Dar Es Salaam Stock Exchange (DSE)  the bourse registered on Monday 7th January 2013 a record turnover of TZS 370.45 Million (USD 233,000).

The previous session on Friday 4th January showed a far more modest turnover of TZS 31.41 Million (USD 20,000).

On the day covered by the report 425,543 shares were traded in 34 deals in comparison to the previous session when 76,837 shares were traded in 18 deals.

DSE already recorded a record turnover of TZS 119 Million (USD  74,800) during the first week of 2013, which represents a 95% increase compared to 61 Million (USD 38,300) traded during the previous session at the end of 2012.

According to Mr Moremi Marwa, Chief Executive Officer of the Tanzania Securities Limited (TSL), one of the seven Tanzanian stockbroker licensed by the Tanzania Capital Markets & Securities Authority (CMSA), the positive performances can be attributed  to the end of festive seasons as well as low inflationary pressure in the market.

Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange Week 23 of 2026: Equity Turnover Surges +51.19% to TZS 20.71 Billion as MUCOBA (+38.20%) and TOL (+22.65%) Lead Gainers

During Week 23 of 2026 (June 1-5), DSE equity turnover surged +51.19% to TZS 20.71 billion on volume of 6,557,479 shares across 19,464 deals. MUCOBA (+38.20%), TOL (+22.65%) and MCB (+12.50%) led gainers, while NMG (-3.77%), TBL (-3.36%) and EABL (-3.01%) topped losers. Total market capitalisation closed at TZS 34,178.81 billion with the DSEI essentially flat at -0.04%, and Commercial Services (+3.06%) was the standout index. Foreign investors were net sellers at USD -1,690,466. Bond turnover totaled TZS 87.84 billion, down -6.30% week-on-week.
