Tanzania Weekly Market Report 6 – 10 Jan, 2014

According to the Weekly Market Report of the trading week ending on 10th December, 2013 issued by CORE Securities, a leading Tanzanian licensed stockbroker, the Dar Es Salaam Stock Exchange turnover in the market increased by +1421% to 5,891.95million from 387.46 million.

Both local and foreign investors participated in the market. Foreign Investors participated by 54.19% while Local Investors by 45.81%.

On Friday 10 January 2013 the DSEI (ASI) closed at 1,916.67 (+2.16%), TSI Closed at 2,849.01 (+0.03%), IA closed at 3,414.56 (+0.00%) and BI Closed at 2,524.88 (+0.05%) points.

Tanzania Investment Guide 2026 Free Edition

Most of activities were seen on TBL, NMB, & CRDB counters.

Government Securities

Last Treasury Bills auction was done on 31 December 2013 with a total of 34 successful bids for a value of 12,670 million.

Government Bonds

A Five year T-bond worth 6.32 billion was recorded in secondary market, no T-bond for 10, 7 and 2 years were recorded in secondary market.

Both Net Asset Value schemes (NAV) and fund size were flat edging up in comparison to last week activities.

Gold

On Friday 10 January 2014 Closing Spot gold Price was up by +1.17% to 2.019 million per ounce (1 ounce = 31.10 grams).

Forex

On the week close Friday 10th January 1USD=TZS1,604.91

Inflation

The annual headline inflation rate for the month of December 2013 decreased to 5.60% from 6.2% in the previous month (November 2013).

Tanzania's financial markets closed the week to 4 September 2026 with the 10-year Treasury bond yield at 10.6924%, up from 10.3861%, after investors tendered TZS 364.96 billion against TZS 182.90 billion offered.
