Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange Weekly Report: November 23rd – 27th, 2015

According to CORE Securities Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange (DSE) Weekly Market Report for the week ended Friday November 27th 2015, the market total turnover was TZS 34,847,494,400.

The total market capitalisation reached TZS 20,785.41 billion up by +0.09% compared to the previous week’s close at TZS 20,766.11 billion.

A total of 2,770,840 shares were transacted in 304 trades.

Trading activity was recorded in TBL, CRDB and SWIS.

The Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange All Share Index (DSEI) closed at 2,369.30 points up by -1.00% compared to the previous week’s close of 2,371.81 points.

The Tanzania Share Index (TSI) closed at 4,598.47 points down by -0.71% compared to the previous week’s close of 4,631.48 points.

The Industrial and Allied (IA) closed at 6,083.20 points up by -0.37% compared to the previous week’s close of 6,105.55 points.

The Banks, Finance & Investment (BI) closed at 3,169.66 points down by -1.76% compared to the previous week’s close of 3,226.46 points.

The Commercial Services (CS) closed without changes at 3,953.25 points compared to the previous week’s close.

In the bond market, there were not Treasury tenders registered during the week ended 27/11/2015.

The amounts of Treasuries offered were TZS 3 billion for 35 days, TZS 15 billion for 91 days, TZS 52 billion for 182, and TZS 65 billion for 364 days.

The Bank of Tanzania (BOT) bank rate was 12.0%, prime rate was 7.51%.

On Friday November 27th 2015, the value of the United States Dollar (USD) against the Tanzanian shilling (TZS) was USD 1 = TZS 2,141.40 (+0.09%).

On November 27th 2015, BOT 91 days treasury bill yielded a 10.06% interest, 182 days treasury bill yielded a 16.92% interest, and 364 days treasury bill yielded a 18.87% interest.
