According to CORE Securities Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange (DSE) Weekly Market Report for the week ended Friday January 29th 2016, the market total turnover was TZS 3,592,885,420.

The total market capitalisation reached TZS 20,100.86 billion up by +1.74% compared to the previous week’s close at TZS 19,756.20 billion.

A total of 718,229 shares were transacted in 308 trades.

Indexes

The Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange All Share Index (DSEI) closed at 2,291.12 points up by +1.78% compared to the previous week’s close of 2,251.08 points.

The Tanzania Share Index (TSI) closed at 4,263.44 points down by -0.01% compared to the previous week’s close of 4,264.25 points.

Bonds

In the bond market, there was a Treasury tender registered during the week ended 29/01/2016.

The amounts of Treasuries registered were TZS 122.4 million for 91 days, TZS 50,000 million for 182 days and TZS 212,000 million for 364 days.

On January 29th 2016, BOT 91 days treasury bill yielded a 8.84% interest, 182 days treasury bill yielded a 17.67% and 364 days treasury bill yielded a 18.80% interest.

Interest Rate

The Bank of Tanzania (BOT) bank rate was 12.0% while the prime rate was 14.22%.

Forex

On Friday January 29th 2016, the value of the United States Dollar (USD) against the Tanzanian shilling (TZS) was USD 1 = TZS 2,166.42 (+0.21%).
