The trading week ending on Friday 4th October 2024 at the Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange (DSE) saw the volume of shares traded double compared to the previous week.

Turnover and Volume

During Week 40 of 2024, the DSE recorded a total turnover of TZS 1,958.58 million from 2,826,458 shares traded in 1,815 deals.

This represents a decrease of -2.62% in total turnover and an increase of 102.13% in volume traded compared to the previous week, which saw a turnover of TZS 2,011.32 million from 1,398,294 shares traded.

Market Capitalization

At the close of Week 40 of 2024, the total market capitalization and domestic market capitalization of listed shares at the DSE amounted to TZS 17,848.37 billion and TZS 12,150.15 billion, respectively.

This reflects an increase of 0.44% in total market capitalization and a decrease of -0.28% in domestic capitalization compared to the previous week’s close figures of TZS 17,769.71 billion and TZS 12,184.57 billion.

Bond Market

During week 40 of 2024, the bond market recorded transactions worth TZS 115.92 billion, representing an increase of 147.26% compared to TZS 46.88 billion the previous week.

Indexes

At the close of Week 40 in 2024, the All Share Index (DSEI) was the only index to show a gain, rising by 0.44%. All other indexes lost value, except the Commercial Services (CS), which remained flat.
