According to the Weekly Market Report of the trading week ending on 16th May, 2014 issued by CORE Securities, named East Africa Best Advisory Brokerage by Capital Finance International, the Dar Es Salaam Stock Exchange total turnover decreased by -17% to TZS 762.85 million from TZS 913.75 million.
Both local and foreign investors participated in the market. Foreign Investors participated by 0.71% while Local Investors by 99.29%.
On Friday 16th May 2014 the TSI Closed at 3,059.22(+1.24%), IA closed at 3,570.37(+0.15%) and BI Closed at 2,867.41 (+3.37%) points.
Most of activities were seen on CRDB & NMB counters.
Gold
On Friday 16th May Closing Spot Price was was up by +0.15% to TZS 68,785 per gram from TZS 68,682 per gram a week earlier.
Forex
On the week close Friday 16th May 1USD=TZS 1,637.42 (BOT mean rate), an increase of 0.01% compared to TZS 1,635.12 a week earlier.
Inflation
The annual headline inflation rate for the month of March 2014 increased to 6.1% from 6.0% in the previous month (February 2014).
