Tanzania Weekly Market Report 17 to 21 March, 2014

According to the Weekly Market Report of the trading week ending on 21st March, 2014 issued by CORE Securities, named East Africa Best Advisory Brokerage by Capital Finance International, the Dar Es Salaam Stock Exchange total turnover decreased by -86% to 571.80 million from 4,215.52 million the previous week.

Both local and foreign investors participated in the market. Foreign Investors participated by 23.06 % while Local Investors by 76.94%.

On Friday 21st March 2014 TSI Closed at 2,946.13 (+1.45%), IA closed at 3,530.31  (+2.58%) and BI Closed at 2,619.69 (-0.56%) points.

Most of activities were seen on TBL, NMB & CRDB counters.

Government Securities

Last Treasury Bills auction was done on 12th March 2014 with a total of 118 successful bids for a value of 130 trillion.

Government Bonds

A Seven year T-bond worth 2.25 & a ten years T-bond worth 5.1 billion recorded in secondary market, no T-bond for 10, 7 and 2 years recorded in secondary market.

Gold 

On Friday 21st March Closing Spot gold Price was up by +1.94% to TZS 70,370 per gram.

Forex

On the week close Friday 21st March 1USD=TZS 1,630.16 (BOT mean rate). This represents an appreciation of +0.39% compared to Friaday 14th March (1,623.83).

Inflation

The annual headline inflation rate for the month of January 2014 increased to 6.0% from 5.6% in the previous month (Decembre 2013).

Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange Week 23 of 2026: Equity Turnover Surges +51.19% to TZS 20.71 Billion as MUCOBA (+38.20%) and TOL (+22.65%) Lead Gainers

During Week 23 of 2026 (June 1-5), DSE equity turnover surged +51.19% to TZS 20.71 billion on volume of 6,557,479 shares across 19,464 deals. MUCOBA (+38.20%), TOL (+22.65%) and MCB (+12.50%) led gainers, while NMG (-3.77%), TBL (-3.36%) and EABL (-3.01%) topped losers. Total market capitalisation closed at TZS 34,178.81 billion with the DSEI essentially flat at -0.04%, and Commercial Services (+3.06%) was the standout index. Foreign investors were net sellers at USD -1,690,466. Bond turnover totaled TZS 87.84 billion, down -6.30% week-on-week.
