Tanzania Weekly Market Report 19th to 23rd May, 2014

According to the Weekly Market Report of the trading week ending on 23rd May, 2014 issued by CORE Securities, named East Africa Best Advisory Brokerage by Capital Finance International, the Dar Es Salaam Stock Exchange total turnover increased by +874% to TZS 7,433.22 million from TZS 762.85 million the previous week.

Both local and foreign investors participated in the market. Foreign Investors participated by 49.96%% while Local Investors by 50.04%.

On Friday 23rd May 2014 the TSI Closed at 3,102.40(+1.41%), IA closed at 3,599.45 (+0.81%) and BI Closed at 2,942.03 (+2.60%) points.

Gold 

On Friday 23rd May Closing Spot Price was was up by +0.31% to TZS 68,996 per gram from TZS 68,785 per gram a week earlier. 

Forex

On the week close Friday 23rd May 1USD=TZS 1,642.50 (BOT mean rate), an increase of 0.31% compared to TZS 1,637.42 a week earlier.

Inflation

The annual headline inflation rate for the month of April 2014 increased to 6.3% from 6.1% in the previous month (March 2014).
