Tanzania Weekly Market Report 28th April to 2nd May, 2014

According to the Weekly Market Report of the trading week ending on 2nd May, 2014 issued by CORE Securities, named East Africa Best Advisory Brokerage by Capital Finance International, the Dar Es Salaam Stock Exchange total turnover decreased by -68% to TZS 789.01 million from 2,482.65 million the previous week.

Both local and foreign investors participated in the market. Foreign Investors participated by 22.15% while local Investors by 77.85%.

On Friday 2nd May 2014 the TSI Closed at 3,012.36 (+0.81%), IA closed at 3,562.14 (+0.69%) and BI Closed at 2,748.28 (+0.94%) points.

Most of activities were seen on CRDB, SIMBA & TBL counters.

Gold 

On Friday 2nd May Closing Spot Price was down by -0.29% to TZS 68,679 per gram, from TZS 68,881 per gram a week before.  

Forex

On the week close Friday 2nd May 1USD=TZS 1,634.99 (BOT mean rate), compared to TZS 1,634.79 a week earlier.

Inflation

The annual headline inflation rate for the month of March 2014 increased to 6.1% from 6.0% in the previous month (February 2014).
