Tanzania Weekly Market Report 5th to 9th May, 2014

According to the Weekly Market Report of the trading week ending on 9th May, 2014 issued by CORE Securities, named East Africa Best Advisory Brokerage by Capital Finance International, the Dar Es Salaam Stock Exchange total turnover increased by 16% to TZS 913.75 million from TZS 789.01 million.

Both local and foreign investors participated in the market. Foreign Investors participated by 5.83% while Local Investors by 94.17%.

On Friday 9th May 2014 the TSI Closed at 3,021.87 (+0.32%), IA closed at 3,565.14 (+0.08%) and BI Closed at 2,773.99 (+0.94%) points.

Gold 

On Friday 9th May Closing Spot Price was was up by +0.1% to TZS 68,682 per gram from TZS 68,679 a week earlier. 

Forex

On the week close Friday 9th May 1USD=TZS 1,635.12 (BOT mean rate), an increase of 0.01% compared to TZS 1,634.99 a week earlier.

Inflation

The annual headline inflation rate for the month of March 2014 increased to 6.1% from 6.0% in the previous month (February 2014).
