The Dar Es Salaam Stock Exchange total turnover during the week ending January 9th 2015 significantly increased by +78.73% to TZS 7,160 million from TZS 4,006 million the previous trading week. Total Market Capitalization reached TZS 22,525.34 billion (+1.96%).

All Shares Index (DSE) closed at 2,548.90 points (+0.78%), and Tanzania Share Index (TSI) closed at 4,740.24 points (+1.52%).

Industrial & Allied index (IA) closed at 6,047.82 points (+2.27%) and Banks Finance & Investment index (BI) closed at 3,513.16 points (-0.10%).

Equity turnover at the Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange surged +155.54% week-on-week to TZS 64.53 billion during Week 31 of 2026, with 15,883,064 shares changing hands across 21,680 deals. TCCL advanced +33.54%, VODA rose +21.21%, and USL gained +16.67% among the top performers, while MCB fell -53.03%, KA declined -38.89%, and PAL slipped -11.11% among the week's losers. Total market capitalisation closed at TZS 36,528.82 billion, with the DSEI rising +0.97% and the Commercial Services index leading sectoral gains at +19.91%. Bond market turnover reached TZS 84.18 billion, contracting -20.14% from the prior week.

First Offshore Tanzanian Shilling Bond Lists on London Stock Exchange Raising TZS 265.2bn for SME Lending

The International Finance Corporation (IFC) has listed the first offshore Tanzanian shilling bond on the London Stock Exchange (LSE), raising TZS 265.2 bn (USD 100m equivalent) in the largest shilling-denominated issue ever placed in international capital markets. Proceeds fund a local currency facility for NMB Bank, Tanzania's second-largest, with 20% ring-fenced for women-owned MSMEs and an estimated 13,000 to 20,000 jobs expected to be supported.
