Tanzania Weekly Market Report 21st to 25th July, 2014

According to the Weekly Market Report of the trading week ending on 25th July, 2014 issued by CORE Securities, named East Africa Best Advisory Brokerage by Capital Finance International, the Dar Es Salaam Stock Exchange, total turnover in the market increased by +48% to TZS 18,593.73 million from TZS 12,556.29 million the previous week.

Foreign Investors participated by 0.00% while Local Investors by 100.00%. 

On Friday 25th July 2014 TSI Closed at 3,913.36 (+5.38%), IA closed at 4,715.59 (+9.56%) and B I Closed at 3,516.51 (-1.62%) points, Most of activities were seen on CRDB & NMB counters.

TOL Gases stock price remains at TZS 480.

Gold 

On Friday 25th July 2014 Closing Spot Price was down by -2.26% to TZS 68,412.57 per gram from TZS 69,996.52 per gram the previous week.

Forex

On Friday 25th July 1USD=TZS 1,656.33 (BOT mean rate), representing a depreciation for the tanzanian shilling of –0.029% compared to the previosu week (1,655.84).

Inflation

The annual headline inflation rate for the month of June 2014 decreased to 6.4 % from 6.5% in May 2014.

Tanzania Banking Assets Up 23.8%, Capital Markets Up 35.1%, Social Security Up 21.4%, Insurance Up 6.8% in 2025

The Bank of Tanzania Financial Stability Report for 2025 shows banking sector total assets grew 23.8% to TZS 76,975 billion, private sector credit expanded 23.5% with mining up 30.1% and trade up 29.4%, and the non-performing loans ratio fell to 2.8%, the lowest in the East African Community. Total capital market investment rose 35.1% to TZS 63,096.4 billion, social security assets grew 21.4% to TZS 25,921 billion, insurance assets rose 6.8% to TZS 2,633.6 billion, and foreign reserves stood at USD 6,312 million covering 5.2 months of imports.
